Resumo: The hosting organization is the umbrella organisation for around 40 eco-communities and like-minded projects in Denmark. It was established in 1993 and aims to promote a way of life that cares for and respects all living beings and natural resources, through the establishment of eco-communities and eco-projects, but increasingly also to spread ecovillage lifestyles and qualities more widely. So-called 'eco-enthusiasts' find a platform, where they can feel connected to a wider movement of peers believing in and sharing a more sustainable lifestyle. Especially urban inhabitants – intensified after covid lock downs - and their youth are attracted to ecovillage lifestyles to 'walk the talk' through daily micro actions, in community. Research projects show that a sustainable lifestyle and a decreased climate footprint is supported by the strength of community (COMPASS 2020).

The organization is arranged sociocratically, we run courses/trainings, hold festivals and events, gives out publications and creates virtual communities like webinars etc. Increasingly, the organization focuses on external activities including youth projects, adult education, networking with other green organisations and increased visibility, advocacy and policy suggestions. Ecological communities respond to the climate crisis with its practical examples of transition initiatives and the building of sustainable human communities, from a holistic perspective, appealing to diverse target groups.
